LAW ENFORCEMENT
In order for law enforcement agencies to be successful in their search for
funding, they must have a grant proposal that is competitive, which can be
difficult as many agencies do not have a skilled grant writer. Grants tend
to go to a selection of departments across the country who have highly
skilled grant writers. This results in a disproportionate allocation of
grant funds and creates an uneven level of readiness in the law enforcement
network. A system break down is possible if a large scale crisis should
occur. More consistent allocation of funds and improvement of agencies and
departments could result in operations that are functioning at the same high
level, resulting in greater safety and effectiveness. We need only look to
New Orleans post-Katrina to see what is at stake.

Learn the grant writing
skills your department needs to get stimulus funding grants
The Back Up Training Corporation and Bright Star Grant Consultants
have developed a self contained interactive CD-Rom computer training for law
enforcement grant writing. Joe Lewis, Grant Administrator for the King
County Sheriff’s Office Washington State, was a vital resource in the
development of this training. This course is designed for officers to learn
grant writing at their own pace and at their own convenience. The disk also
includes extensive resources to save time and to help officers be informed
and competitive. |
The CD-Rom also works well
as a component to workshops. There are many custom configurations to how
workshops and the CD-Rom can be put together to accommodate the
staff/time/content needs of law enforcement departments.
